Anthony Marquez -  Head Instructor,

  • Anthony Marquez has been studying martial arts since he was 6 years old. He trained under Kwong Ming Ly from Hong Kong and Wang Jin Bao, a former member of the Beijing Wushu Team. The majority of his training came under the supervision of Master Jianhua Guo, a former member of the Hubei Professional Wushu Team and the coach of the Wuhan Institute of Physical Education Team. In 1989 Anthony Marquez was named NASKA's (North American Sport Karate Association) Rookie of the Year. In 1996 he was named the NASKA National Chinese Wushu Forms Champion of the year.
  • Anthony Marquez has trained students who have won hundreds of national medals in barehand forms, weapons forms, and sanshou sparring. Anthony Marquez's weapons training curriculum includes staff, broad sword, double broad sword, straight sword, spear, 3-section staff, chain whip, double hook, monk spade, pudao, and halberd. He has been featured in numerous films, stage shows and video games including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, Spaceman, Revolution X, and Mortal Kombat.
  • Anthony Marquez founded Extreme Kungfu/Wushu Training Center in May 2002.
   


Li Qiang - Wushu Instructor

  • Li Qiang was one of six key female players of the Beijing Wushu Team from 1995 to 2005. During these years, she won countless championships and served as a crucial element in retaining the Beijing Wushu Team’s reputation as the most elite Wushu team in China. The Chinese government awarded Coach Li the highest class ranking as an International Athlete (Wu-Yin Ji).

  • 1998 China Nationals – Gold Medal in Team Competition
  • 1999 China Nationals –Gold Medals in individual event competitions: Staff, Broadsword, and Double Broadsword; Silver Medals in individual event competitions: Nanquan and Xingyi
  • 2000 China Nationals – Gold Medal in Group Form
  • Coach Li was born in Hebei, China. She began intense wushu training at age 6. The turning point of her wushu career came at the tender age of 15 when the Beijing Wushu Team’s head coach, Wu Bin, noticed her remarkable skill and talent as she was preparing for a wushu competition in Beijing. Wu Bin immediately recruited her onto the Beijing Wushu Team. Between 1995 and 2005, Coach Li traveled with the Beijing Wushu Team all over the world and throughout the United States, performing, teaching, training, and competing. In 2006, after retiring from wushu competition, Coach Li made the USA her permanent home.
  • Coach Li currently resides in Chicagoland and she is a partner and head instructor of AllStar Kung Fu.
  • Coach Li ’s specialties are: Broadsword, Staff, Nanquan, Double Broadsword, Xing Yi, Southern Broadsword, Southern Staff.
   

Larry Garstki - Boxing Instructor

  • Coach Larry Garstki is an official U.S.A amateur boxer and trainer.
  • He has trained alongside many champions, and has been trained himself by a protégé of the world famous Bufano's Boxing Gym in New Jersey. As a trainer, he has trained champions in boxing, kickboxing, and mixed-martial-arts. He also holds a first degree blackbelt in karate and has cross-trained in many martial arts including Muay-Thai, and Jiu-Jitsu.
   

Mark Miller - Muay Thai & MMA Instructor

  • Coach Mark Miller has competed on a national and international level in Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts since 2001.
  • He held a a USKO international rules kickboxing title, the XFO welterweight title in 2004, and the Total Fight Challenge welterweight title in 2006.
  • Between 2007 and 2008, Mark Miller fought with the International Fight League (IFL).
  • Currently, Mark Miller is fighting on The Ultimate Fighter Season 9 television series that began on April 1, 2009.

    Tim Wright - Kids Kung Fu Instructor

    • Tim Wright began his martial arts training in 1979.
    • He has taught classes at the Hyde Park Health and Fitness center, Chicago Boys/Girls club, and Winnetka Community House. In 1989 he began conducting seminars at the Kung fu Academy of Chicago.
    • In 1991 Master Wright helped organize Chicago’s first Chinese Martial Arts tournament with Grandmaster Wai Lun Choi, Masters Kwan Cortez and Alvin Cardona, and Sifu Wil Diaz. In 1992 Master Wright began learning from and teaching for Grandmaster John “Chi Yuan” Tsai at Tsai’s Kung Fu International. Between 1992-1997, Master Wright was the Midwest forms and weapons Champion and the #1 Middle Weight Fighter on the Midwest Circuit. In 1995-1999 Master Wright opened Wright’s Kung Fu/Tai Chi Academy in Chicago’s Bridgeport area.
    • In 2000 Master Wright was promoted to 6th degree Black Belt in Shorei Goju-Ryu Karate Do under the Bakers Brothers. In 2003 he was promoted to 7th degree Black Sash under Grandmaster John Tsai.
